Places to See in Istanbul City

Places to See in Istanbul City with History

Istanbul has always been the center of attraction in the history. The city of Constantinople (during the Roman-Byzantine period) besieged by many different enemies (Huns, Avars, Bulgarian Kingdom, Avars and Turks). They wanted to seize the city too much because the Constantinople was located in the center of Trade Routes. The Word “Constantinople” meant wealth and gold for them.

During the Ancient and Middle Ages, the silk and spices that was brought from inland Asia by Caravans, gathered in Istanbul. The Golden Horn was the major pier of the city, so that all these commercial ships as well as Byzantine navy docked in this area.

On the southern part of Golden Horn there was the Constantinople and Greek Orthodox Byzantine people whereas on the Northern Bank of Golden Horn, there was Latin people. The Latin trade colonies from Republic of Genoa and Republic of Venice were based in modern day Beyoglu Area (Especially Karakoy and Galata neighborhoods)
